Book Tie-In

This photograph is of the book on which the film of the same name is based. It is a special edition to tie-in with the release of The Railway Man.

It was taken at Waterstone's on 31/12/13. This is a good case of synergy, as the publishers are clearly promoting the film and vice versa. It follows that people might become aware of the film through the book, and therefore might wish to then watch the film if they liked the book enough.

Furthermore, this might appeal to those who tend to read books and do not often watch films at the cinema. In particular, this might suggest to the public in general that since the film is based on a true story, then The Railway Man  might feel more real than most of the other releases.
